Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Perform QA tasks requiring planning, scheduling, and testing to assure that developed products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards.
  • Develop an understanding of the functional, usability, and performance requirements for the product features being tested
  • Design and implement manual and automated tests
  • Build software releases from the source repository and manage issue tracking system
  • Install, configure, and test beta versions of the company's products in customer environments
  • Research and implement new and improved testing methods, processes, tools and test systems
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or other technical discipline
  • At least 5 years experience in QA for a commercially available software application
  • Experience testing Linux-based products
  • Experience in test automation (browser-based GUI automation, programming, and scripting)
  • Conscientious test execution skills and excellent debugging/troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of test tools
  • Previous experience with relational databases (preferably MySQL)
  • Strong Linux-based computer system knowledge; BSD a plus
  • Experience with network devices, network protocols (TCP/IP and UDP), routing, Internet security and server configurations a plus
  • Accurate task estimation skills
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Team player and process oriented
