Solera Networks™ Heightens Awareness of Network Forensics Technology, Joins Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium

LINDON, UT — December 16, 2008 – Solera Networks, a provider of innovative network forensics software and search appliances, today announced that it has joined the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC™). As part of the NCOIC’s hundred plus member global organization, Solera Networks will work to help raise industry and federal awareness about network forensics technology and the vital role it plays in maintaining cyber security. The company plans to help drive the Consortium’s open standards and recommendations, which accelerate and ensure secure, reliable interoperability of network-centric applications across a spectrum of joint interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational industrial and commercial operations.

Solera Networks’ expertise is well-suited for NCOIC’s cyber security projects. The company will take part to inform industry and government officials within the U.S. and worldwide about the capabilities of traffic capture, regeneration and search technology. It will also emphasize the important role this technology plays in accounting for and quelling network security breaches. Through its participation in such projects, the company also hopes to better understand various initiatives around cyber security and gain insight into the competitive global market landscape.

“We are extremely pleased to have Solera Networks join NCOIC,” said Terry Morgan, Executive Council Chair for NCOIC. “We’re looking forward to their participation in the consortium and incorporating the addition of their insight and expertise as we fold network forensics into our open standards and practices—before this emerging field of technology becomes a fixture in the commercial marketplace.”

Solera Networks’ adoption of open standards and common processes recommended by NCOIC also promises direct benefits for its partners and customers. Most notably, the company’s compliance with these standards and processes sets the stage for reduced administrative, upgrade and systems integration costs for the products it develops. It also improves partners’ and customers’ readiness and response during systems integration, and helps them to quickly introduce emerging, yet vital technology into operational capabilities.

“By actively participating in NCOIC, Solera Networks will continue to advocate the growing need for network forensics to support today’s cyber security initiatives,” said Steve Shillingford, CEO of Solera Networks. “In a world with evolving security threats, it’s important that we provide our customers with as much interoperability as possible. Such flexibility allows cyber security professionals to rapidly and more effectively respond to pervasive network attacks and stop the loss of data.”
