Company to Demonstrate Big Data Security Intelligence and Analytics and Will Go Behind the Wall of Sheep at DEF CON 20

DATELINE—July 24, 2012 Solera Networks, the industry’s leading Security Intelligence and Analytics provider, announced today that it is participating in Black Hat USA 2012. During the conference, Solera Networks (Booth #418) will demonstrate the newest version of Solera DeepSee, which goes beyond the traditional ‘preventative’ security products to deliver unprecedented visibility and contextual awareness into advanced malware and advanced targeted attacks. Black Hat USA 2012 occurs July 21-26 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada.

With this newest version of Solera DeepSee, organizations are able to harness the power of big data security intelligence and analytics (SIA) in a flexible software platform for easy implementation throughout the enterprise—including distributed offices. DeepSee Software supports leading hardware platforms, can be deployed as a virtual appliance on VMware™ ESX servers, or on dedicated DeepSee Appliances. No other SIA solution provides complete network visibility and context-aware security with this level of deployment flexibility.

Solera Networks is also participating as a lead sponsor of the popular Wall of Sheep at DEF CON 20 – an interactive demonstration highlighting security vulnerabilities undetected by many users. The Wall of Sheep team will be using Solera Networks DeepSee Software in addition to their own tool suite to analyze traffic and breaches originating from the conference. DEFCON 20 is being held from July 26-29 at the Rio Hotel, Las Vegas.

“Cybercriminals are actively looking for weaknesses to exploit to their advantage. We hope that by highlighting network users’ vulnerabilities, we can empower them to be better equipped to uncover and respond to real threats to their networks and data,” said Joseph Mlodzianowski, chief technology officer of Aries Security, the security professionals that maintain the Wall of Sheep. “Solera is a trusted partner of the Wall of Sheep. At the Wall of Sheep, DEF CON attendees can view hacks and breaches while they are occurring, gaining a deeper understanding of potential vulnerabilities and security issues.”

“New and evolving security threats – including advanced, multi-platform malware – are creating tremendous challenges for organizations, making the ability to quickly and easily detect and respond to these threats in an informed manner a critical part of daily operations,” said Steve Shillingford, president and CEO, Solera Networks. “Organizations need a big data security platform that delivers advanced persistent security for today’s advanced targeted attacks. We look forward to discussing the security challenges that companies are grappling with and showing them how they can identify and analyze these threats with actionable context and intelligence.”

Solera Networks is hosting a “Blue Martini Party” on Wednesday, July 25 at Shadow: A Bar at Caesars Palace. More information and details on how to register are available at: http://pages.soleranetworks.com/BlackHat2012.html.
